The Way to God……

Want to find the way to god? How is it possible to reach god – still remains a big mystery to many. When one holds a question long enough in his/her mind, at some point or the other, the answer arrives. It has to. God is love. Love is god.  A feeling of deep connectedness to everything that is – isn’t that love? Isn’t that god?

We don’t know if there is an ultimate destination to god. However, the way itself is so beautiful. Though our final destination is god, every human being comes to this world to fulfill different purposes before reaching the destination. The saints, masters, gurus, yogis come to earth purely to give. Apart from giving and receiving, all of us come here to learn our lessons – to love, to give, to accept and to serve. The way to god, is the way of love. We have to realize that at every moment that there is love, there is god. Silently he comes and sits in every heart that holds love. And he remains as long as love remains. For love is his very nature – love and him- they cannot stay away from each other. To bring in love in every moment, should thus be our endeavor for life.

Parents learn unconditional love from their children, by accepting them as they are. In fact special children give the purpose to their parents – to take care of them unconditionally. A man and a woman learn acceptance through the system called marriage. A person, who takes his family, friends and the loved ones for granted, learns patience form his work environment. Man learns to give through religion, customs and from the culture of his ancestors.

Parent's love

Parent’s love

A person learns to serve by gradually growing in love for humanity and evolves to the state where one can put others before self. The end result of these lessons, the final destination would be god. To learn these lessons we come back to earth again and again, birth after birth. Now the big question is though the lesson looks simple, why do we come back again and again and what is the thing that keeps us always a little away from the destination? Whether we accept it or not the truth is, whatever we do there is a tinge of selfishness in it. Think about it.

Negative Karma

Negative Karma

In fact take love as an example. We love our family members, friends and other loved ones expecting they will love and take care of us. Even in parenting, there is an expectation that the children will take care of the parents in their old age. We love people in higher positions, expecting certain benefits. We love masters, saints, gurus and yogis, expecting that they will erase our negative karma. A few of them love god expecting salvation and many of them love god expecting material benefits. But loving fellow human beings is the purest of everything. In fact god doesn’t need our love; actually it’s his love for humanity that flows through us and manifests as our love for god. So, let’s learn to love for the sake of loving.

The origin of negative emotion is non-acceptance. Even where we practice acceptance, it is more out of helplessness than by choice. Let’s learn to accept things unconditionally. In today’s world, service has become a social status instead of a selfless act. Mahatma Gandhi says the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Service is not necessarily charity or social service. Service is basically doing things for others selflessly, in whichever way possible.

shades of selfishness

shades of selfishness

Let’s learn to serve selflessly. Let’s erase the shades of selfishness in whatever we do and paint the world with the shades of unconditional love. Let’s learn to be unconditional to everybody and everything. In the destination point our god is waiting to embrace each one of us unconditionally. Let’s ask ourselves very often from the heart, are we learning our lessons.
