Faith Dissected

Faith Dissected

Faith… Every time the word is uttered, it is a purifying experience. And the more it is listened to, something within flowers, there is a shift in the feelings, there is a shift in the breath, there is a shift in the thoughts, there is a shift in the appearance of the physical body, there is a shift in perception, there is a shift in the energy within and without.

you've got to Faith it until you make it!

you’ve got to Faith it until you make it!

Is it a mere word then? ‘Faith’, they call it; but how do you explain what faith is? We search in various scriptures and books. Yet the explanations seem to be just the tip of the iceberg. It is a feeling then; it is an experience that has to be felt, that has to be experienced. In this journey, each time ‘Faith’ shall reveal a deeper meaning, it shall bestow a deeper experience.

There are times when faith doesn’t even find a part of our vocabulary. So busy are we with the toys of the world that we rarely even want to look in this direction. It is an unknown domain for Continue reading “Faith Dissected” »

It’s that simple!

It’s that simple!

You might have traveled far and you might have gained bountiful success, but it’s the simple things that you will long for always. Think about it! The little things, like looking at the sunlight as it filters through the trees in the morning; the heavenly feel of winter sunlight on your skin; the sweet smell of moist earth after the first monsoon drizzle; the flavors and aromas of homemade food; the comfort of lounging around in well worn clothes…

Pleasure of watching monsson drizzle.

Pleasure of watching monsson drizzle.

Aren’t those things what we really long for? There is something wholesome and comforting about home-cooked food, the kind you eat daily and can even overeat. This is the food that you are close to; there is a pleasure in it that’s coded into your DNA. It’s so soothing that you feel compelled to call hours in advance of reaching home, to have it ready. You can slap it about in any combination you like and even raid the fridge at midnight for second helpings. It’s that simple!

Simple homemade food - looks delicious!

These choices made from the heart are pure and simple but we complicate them. Part of this complexity arises from Continue reading “It’s that simple!” »

Art of Gifting…….

Art of Gifting…….

Gifting doesn’t need a lot of time or money, just a little thoughtfulness. Serious gift-givers may invest hours looking for the perfect gift but most of us don’t have the time and sometimes even a budget to match that kind of perfection. So often, we just end up buying generic gifts that may not even be preserved until next year.

more style than cash

more style than cash

During this brouhaha of buying a gift, a zealous gift-giver usually assumes that an expensive gift may feel more special. But most times, the receiver feels burdened by a hefty price tag. Although an expensive gift may take you a long way with popularity, it’s a thoughtful gift that would create an impression of a lifetime. It may sound too good to be true but a meaningful gift doesn’t have to cost a lot of money or time. The gift should Continue reading “Art of Gifting…….” »

The Green-Eyed Monster!

The Green-Eyed Monster!
turn green with envy!

turn green with envy!

Are envy and jealousy two sides of the same coin? Find out for yourself. Answer these two questions for yourself:

You discover your partner has had an affair. Do you:

–  Scream at him, and tell him he is a terrible person

–  Tell your friends, to relieve yourself of the pressure of the hurt

–  Regularly check his phone, emails or browser history

–  Put your rage into your collection of resentments

You’re single and your best friend has just met the man of her dreams. Do you:

–  Listen to her enthuse, while sobbing inside

–  Warn her that love can be blind

–  Talk about the freedom of being single

–  Say something critical of her or him

If you said “None of the above,” I’m not sure I believe you. Jealousy and Envy are painful emotions, and when we act them out, we’re trying to get some relief. Of course, none of these behaviors actually provide that relief.

We use the two words interchangeably. They are in reality two distinct emotions, each with their own spectrum of usefulness to destruction. Simply put, jealousy refers to feelings of impending loss of something you have (your partner’s love perhaps) and envy refers to the desire for something someone else has. They are both Continue reading “The Green-Eyed Monster!” »

Is Money Ever Enough?

Is Money Ever Enough?

Since when did money need ‘managing’?

If it’s that simple; how do we end up complicating things? Take the case of our money. We open bank accounts willy-nilly, and soon discover we have so many that we are confused which bank account has what. Does that sound familiar? As does the fact that we love stashing away small amounts of money here and there and big lumps of money everywhere. The relationship managers at banks are only too good at scenting these bits and soon – this might sound very familiar – there will be further bits in mutual funds, a small lump as gold, a big brown cover with bonds, another brown envelope filled with fixed deposits, recurring deposits, receipts and so on.

Banks!

Banks!

This is the point when it gets insane. You wake up one day and start getting reminders for premiums from your banks. Then you start getting reminders for your reminders. You can’t figure out which bit is where and you spend the next few nights trying to track all this online. You log on and discover that you have Continue reading “Is Money Ever Enough?” »

Easy and Convenient

From the multivitamins you pop in so casually to the thermometers and professional BP monitors and fitness equipment, the online world has it all today. You just have to log in, swipe and enjoy the e-shopping experience that it also has a cash-on-delivery option. Health, beauty and fitness are touted to be the fastest, growing segments in e-commerce. The online directory of web sites offering these services is endless. Most of these websites claim over 100 to 250 percent growth year after year. The e-market is flooded with products from the US, Japan, South Korea and Europe. A majority of the users are from tier-II and III cities without access to retail outlets selling leading brands. Then there are those who don’t have time to go shopping.

mobile all the way

While most web sites carry statutory messages asking the user to buy medicines only after consulting a doctor, what sell the most online are contraceptives, imported hair and skin care products (especially sunscreens, shampoos, anti-acne products and whitening creams), gadgets, health supplements, health gadgets (BP monitors, glucose monitors, thermometers, nebulisers, inhalers, disposable contact lens and oximeters) and personal fitness equipment.

There is, however, a dark side to this impulsive market. A buyer may end up with side effects by purchasing products that lack proper research. In fact, there are forums where Continue reading “Mouse Trap” »

Real or Fake?

Real or Fake?
ha haha ..he he...ho.ho..hoho

ha haha ..he he…ho.ho..hoho

Real or Fake we all laugh. Importance of laughing is being communicated to us through several channels like media, television and famous spiritual leaders. In this busy world people are joining laughing clubs to maximize their life spans. The true prayer is laughing in the morning. Don’t just be laughing outside but from deep inside. The laughter comes from the center of our Being, from the core of our heart. Our belly is so full of laughter that the laughter permeates and comes out of every cell of our body. True laughter is true prayer.

Nature provides everything including laughter. When you laugh, nature also laughs with you. It echoes and resounds and that is really the true meaning of a worthy life. When things go well, everybody around laughs and takes part in it, but if everything falls apart and if you can still laugh, that is evolution and growth.

So there is nothing in life that is more worthy than your laughter. Never lose or trade it , whatsoever. Events come and go. Some are a little pleasant, some are unpleasant, but whatever happens, they all leave you untouched. There is some area deep in you that is left untouched. Hold on to that something that is Continue reading “Real or Fake?” »

Hungry Souls – A Spiritual Retreat !

Hungry Souls – A Spiritual Retreat !
Knowing the 'Self'

Knowing the ‘Self’

A wise man is said to have four things. Both inwardly and outwardly there are four techniques. They are called Sama, Dama, Bheda and Danda.

To deal with people in the world, to be in the world, the first thing you use is Sama. Sama means in a peaceful and understanding way. When that doesn’t work out, then you go to the second method as the rescue. The second method is Dana. Dana means allowing it to happen, forgiving, creating a space. When people don’t recognize your generosity in allowing them space, then the third principle comes, Bheda.

Bheda means to create a discrimination, make a difference, intentionally create a gap. If somebody is at loggerheads with you, first you talk to them. All problems arise because of lack of communication. If you communicate properly, talk to them with love, an evenness starts. When that dosen’t work out, then, with the same love, you just ignore them. If somebody makes a mistake, then ignore their mistake. Don’t take notice. Allow them to realize it for themselves. Your generosity, your letting go, should make people realize their mistake. If they don’t notice even then, then you start using difference, Bheda – create a difference. If two people are there, then you be Continue reading “Hungry Souls – A Spiritual Retreat !” »

Being a Fool

Being a Fool

Fool's Gold

Fool’s Gold

What is the topic? Learn to be a fool or just being a fool?

Somebody who is not doing what the crowd does, what society does, somebody who goes his special way, you call him a crazy fool. No one wants to be a fool. We resist being a fool. Who would like to be a fool? All effort in life, in society, in education, is put into trying to be wise, trying not be a fool. Isn’t it? That means just being one among the crowd, just flowing with the crowd. If somebody raises his hand, you also raise your hand, not knowing for what.

You have something which you call social laughter. People laugh whether they understand the joke or not. They simply laugh. If you don’t laugh, people will think you are a fool or you are dull. So you laugh. It is said the Englishman laughs twice. Once he laughs for the social custom. When a joke is told,he simply laughs. And the second time he laughs at night when he understands the joke. But a German laughs only once because he will never understand the joke. Somebody from Israel never laughs because he does not know what a joke is. 🙂

The day fools disappear from this world, all your entertainment Continue reading “Being a Fool” »

Dealing with Feelings….

Dealing with Feelings….
Awaken your inner spirit!

Awaken your inner spirit!

When we feel high. we have no problems. The problem comes when we feel low. No one wants to feel low. When one feels low, then the more one tries to feel high, the more the low feelings persist. This seems to be the biggest problem. What is important about the feelings? They never stay the same. Feelings are fluid. See, you feel good now, later you don’t feel good. Then again you feel good. This continues in life. If we base our life on our feelings, we will be ruined. You feel good about something now and a little later you feel bad about the same thing. Then those feelings change yet again. Have you noticed feelings changing?

Many people are unaware of the nature of feelings. Everywhere you will hear people say, “Follow your feeling, go by your feelings, do what you feel like,” etc. What will you do? Be independent? People misinterpret what independence means. They think it means following your feelings. They think, “I do as I feel now, I do as I feel tomorrow, I do as I feel the next day.” Then there can be no stability in life.

We are unhappy if we follow our feelings. When you feel low, jump into the lowest. Be like water. That is your real nature; inside you, it is like water. The coconut is the symbol of the whole human life. The coconut has a husk. That is the environment. And then the shell is the body. The mind and the inner intellect is the white membrane inside. The water is the innermost part. Your true nature is like water, fluid and Continue reading “Dealing with Feelings….” »
